Working business laptops three to five years old usually recover 10% to 25% of their original purchase price. A ₹60,000 laptop at about three years old is typically worth around ₹15,000. A machine that cost ₹80,000 to ₹90,000 new usually fetches ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 after three to five years. The final figure depends on quantity, model and configuration, physical condition and how well the machines were maintained. Dead, locked or water-damaged units are worth close to scrap, and we still collect them.

These are the four points that come up in every comparison a client runs before choosing us.
Once the valuation is agreed, the amount is credited to your company account before the equipment leaves your premises. The industry norm is the reverse: hand over the assets, then wait to be paid on a valuation you can no longer verify.
It also solves an internal problem. Finance teams are rarely comfortable approving the removal of company assets against a promise. When the credit has landed, the sign-off is simple.
Every unit is individually identified and assessed: model, generation, processor, RAM, storage, screen and battery condition. A per-kilo rate is a rate where nobody looked, and on a modern fleet it is almost always worse for you.
Erasure or destruction happens first: before grading, before resale, before dismantling. A device is never handled as saleable stock while your data is still on it.

This compares process, not operators. Plenty of authorised recyclers do careful work: the difference that matters is whether the disposal leaves a record you can produce twelve months later.
IT asset disposition is the process of retiring IT equipment in a way that leaves a record. It covers four things in sequence: collecting the equipment, destroying the data on media-bearing devices, recovering resale value where any exists, and recycling the remainder through a pollution-control-board-authorised facility. E-waste pickup covers only the last of those four. The difference that matters to a regulated business is documentation: who took the equipment, when, and where it went.
Ask for four things before you sign anything. One: the recycler’s current pollution-control-board authorisation, with the expiry date and the categories it covers. Two: what documentation you receive at the point of collection, not weeks afterwards. Three: what happens to media-bearing devices, described specifically: software erasure, degaussing, physical shredding, or a combination. Four: what certificate you receive after processing, and at what level of detail. A vendor who cannot answer all four in writing is asking you to take the disposal on trust.
You can, and for a household it is fine. For a company it creates two exposures. The first is data: once the equipment leaves your premises without a wipe or destruction step, you have no way to establish what happened to the drives inside it. The second is the audit trail: under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, a bulk consumer must hand e-waste only to a registered producer, refurbisher or recycler, and should be able to show it. An informal sale produces cash and no evidence. The gap usually surfaces at the worst possible moment: during an ISO 27001 surveillance audit, a customer security review, or a regulator’s information request.
It means one of three physical outcomes, followed by a record. The storage media is overwritten using certified erasure software so the original data cannot be reconstructed; or it is degaussed, destroying the magnetic domains that hold the data; or it is physically shredded into fragments. Deleting files and reformatting a drive do none of these: both leave the underlying data recoverable with freely available tools. The international reference point for media sanitisation is NIST Special Publication 800-88, which separates the outcomes into Clear, Purge and Destroy. The greenest outcome for a retired laptop is not recycling it. It is putting it back into use. Recycling recovers materials but destroys the manufacturing energy already embodied in the device; reuse preserves it. That is why our sequence assesses every unit for reuse before anything is dismantled, and why data destruction comes first, so reuse never comes at the cost of security.
What cannot be reused is dismantled and separated into material streams at our parent company’s MPCB-authorised facility at Waluj MIDC: a plant with 660 MT/A of authorised e-waste processing capacity. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals, circuit boards, plastics and cabling are each routed to the correct downstream channel. Batteries and lamps are separated and handled under their own waste categories rather than going out as general e-waste.
Every device is assessed for redeployment or resale after its data is destroyed. Materials are only recovered from equipment that genuinely has no working life left.
All material is processed at an MPCB-authorised facility operating under a current Consent to Operate, valid to 30 September 2028, with ISO 14001:2015 environmental management certification.
